Everything you ever wanted to know about a teen with epilepsy but were afraid to ask!

Dr. Ronald Davis, a Pediatric Neurologist at the Pediatric Epilepsy Center of Central Florida, will lead a panel of young people living with epilepsy and seizures. Purple Day founder Cassidy Megan will join the group to talk about living with epilepsy as a teenager, what the barriers are, and share their strategies for success.

LUNCH With an Expert: Learn About Focal (Partial-Onset) Seizures and a Treatment Option Taken Once a Day

Join us for lunch as Dr. Steven Wolf, Director of Pediatric Epilepsy at Boston Children’s Health Physicians of NY and CT, presents useful information on epilepsy, focal (partial-onset) seizures, and a prescription medicine taken once a day for patients 4 years of age and older. This is a promotional, non-Continuing Medical Education (CME) program sponsored by Sunovion Pharmaceuticals Inc.

Join Eisai for a 1-hour panel discussion that will cover three stages of life transition.

Seizure Freedom and the Family
When you have a family member living with epilepsy it can feel as if you are always waiting for the next seizure. Imagine if you could know what each transition could look like. This panel will share family experiences, talk through some of the challenges and considerations families confront at three different stages of life as they work towards seizure freedom.

The Early Years– Discussion led by a pediatric neurologist.
Navigating Change– Focusing on hormonal shifts and gaining independence.
Becoming Adults – Caregiver transition discussion led by parents and children with epilepsy.

With CBD products popping up everywhere, this talk will discuss what distinguishes FDA approved CBD products from non-FDA approved products in their legality, content, and potential therapeutic effects.

Speaker Jordyn Stuart is a Medical Science Liaison with Greenwich Biosciences, the US subsidiary of GW Pharmaceuticals.

Prior to joining Greenwich Biosciences Jordyn completed her Ph.D. in Pharmacology at Macquarie University, in Sydney, Australia with a focus on evaluating the pharmacology of novel illicit synthetic cannabinoids. Her post-doctoral studies also included both preclinical and clinical projects investigating cannabinoids as therapeutics in epilepsy, Dravet Syndrome, and PTSD.

Uncontrolled Seizures: An Option to Consider and Why

Still, having seizures despite medications? About 1 in 3 people with epilepsy have the type that is difficult to treat with medication. Come join the presentation with Dr. Ron Davis, Neurologist, and Founder of the Pediatric Neurology Epilepsy Center of Central Florida, to learn about drug-resistant epilepsy and VNS Therapy. Question and answer session following.

When: 2 pm – 2:45 pm & 3 pm – 3:45 pm

The day will end with a visit to Epcot where we can all watch together as Spaceship Earth turns purple for epilepsy awareness.  Be there and enter to win a $250 prize!

For those who will not be spending time at Epcot, Disney guides will be at the Epcot gate and will escort you free of charge in and out of the park for the Spaceship Earth lighting so that you can be a part of this special photo opportunity.
