Working to improve the quality of life for persons affected by Epilepsy

Chartered five years before the national movement, the kitchen “kaffeeklatsches” for those affected by epilepsy that started in Orlando, Florida nearly sixty years ago formally became the Epilepsy Association of Central Florida in 1962. The helping network pioneered so long ago in Central Florida became a 501 c3 IRS charitable not-for-profit organization that now reaches worldwide leading to a name change to The Epilepsy Association. Our mission, “To improve the quality of life for persons affected by epilepsy.” is our driving force. Advocating for people with epilepsy, providing a multitude of services that range from epilepsy medical neurology care, diagnostics (EEG & MRI), laboratory tests, medication assistance, through what the CDC has called “The model for epilepsy care.” by providing each client with an individual Care Manager. In addition, The Epilepsy Association reaches a monthly average of nearly four million people in over one hundred and fifty countries around the world with epilepsy news, information, online epilepsy education with experts in their fields through our award winning “Top Ten worldwide Blog”, EpilepsyU.com and related social media. It goes to prove, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” Margaret Mead
