Since 1959, for over 60 years now, the BC Epilepsy Society has been the provincial program and service provider for the over 50,000 people living with epilepsy in British Columbia, Canada. We are a non-profit charitable organization that welcomes all people with epilepsy in BC, and their loved ones, into an epilepsy community that provides information, education, support, advocacy, and awareness.
We have a passionate team of professional staff who work hard to fundraise, support our core functions, and provide programs and services, such as answering questions and offering practical solutions to some of the challenges that people living with epilepsy may face.
Some examples of our services include support and outreach for people with epilepsy and their loved ones; in-person and online groups offering people with epilepsy and their loved ones the opportunity to connect with one another; our Partners in Teaching program providing free workshops on epilepsy awareness and seizure first aid at schools, workplaces, and other organizations; Clinic Support Services to provide counselling, information, and services to people with epilepsy and their loved ones; our international I AM A VOICE for Epilepsy Awareness™ campaign that educates the public about epilepsy and increases epilepsy awareness; our media projects, including our Voice Epilepsy™ podcast series and our Epilepsy Expert Webinar Series; our website with information reviewed by our Professional Advisory Committee (PAC) made up of some of BC’s top neurologists; camp subsidies for children and youth with epilepsy to attend summer camp programs; and bursaries for students with epilepsy entering or in post-secondary school.
