Epilepsy Action Australia’s 2023 Purple Day campaign: “Dare to be Different”

March 26, 2023

Epilepsy Action Australia’s 2023 Purple Day campaign is ‘Dare to be Different.’ This year, Epilepsy Action Australia wants to acknowledge and celebrate the strength and courage that people with epilepsy demonstrate as they rise to the challenges of everyday life and strive to overcome barriers of inclusion and participation. While we understand the negative effects that a diagnosis of epilepsy may carry, we recognize the powerful human qualities that it can foster – such as resilience, endurance, adaptability, and perseverance. Some people with epilepsy have told us that they feel their epilepsy has in some way made them stronger and better able to cope with the challenges facing us all over recent years!

So, this Purple Day, Epilepsy Action Australia is daring to embrace and celebrate bravery, courage, resilience, and strength shown by many people with epilepsy. There is always something to be gained from difficult times, even when it’s not your own battle, so we are also asking the whole community to dare to be different in support of people with epilepsy.
