Project T.E.E.N. was founded to support teenagers undergoing epilepsy testing by ensuring they can maintain self-care and hygiene, even while confined to their hospital bed. Founded by Sofi, who was diagnosed with epilepsy in third grade, this initiative is born out of her own experience navigating a challenging journey with the condition. Now 18, Sofi is passionate about raising awareness for epilepsy and advocating for better care for those affected.
When a teenager undergoes an EEG test in the hospital, electrodes are attached to their head, preventing them from showering or performing other essential hygiene tasks. Project T.E.E.N. was created to address this gap by providing hygiene products and self-care kits to teens on the neurological floors of hospitals—products that are not typically provided in these settings.
The project aims to raise awareness around this issue while delivering care packages that help teens feel clean, comfortable, and cared for during their hospital stays. To date, Project T.E.E.N. has successfully delivered over 70 care packages, raised over $700, and received countless donations. The impact has been remarkable, and the project is growing rapidly.
In addition to hygiene kits, Project T.E.E.N. has launched a new initiative: the Friendship Bracelet Project. Each care package will now include a handmade friendship bracelet, offering a tangible reminder to every recipient that they are not alone and that someone cares.
Sofi’s recent trip to Tallahassee has expanded the project’s network, and Project T.E.E.N. is now preparing to extend its reach, with plans to deliver care packages to children’s hospitals throughout the Miami area. The momentum is building, and with the support of generous donors and volunteers, Project T.E.E.N. is poised to continue growing and making a real difference in the lives of teenagers battling epilepsy.
This project is not just about hygiene—it’s about making sure teens feel seen, supported, and empowered during one of the most challenging times in their lives.
