Our Center named “Chulalongkorn Comprehensive Epilepsy Center of Excellence (CCEC)” and “Light for Life Foundation for epileptic patients” have started an idea of educating about epilepsy in school-aged children for a couple of years. We focused on the children aged between 9 to 15 years. In this regard, to make the story of epilepsy easy and interesting to understand in this age group, our team which consist of medical personnel, social welfare workers, epileptic patients whose epilepsy was cured by epilepsy surgery and are currently working in our center, and representatives from drug company, created an animation as well as short film about epilepsy.
Over the past year, we have joined a number of schools in Bangkok and suburb areas to educate about epilepsy via our own-made animation by our team who have worked with epileptic patients for many years.
Our goal of this project is to reduce the stigma among Thai epileptic patients. We strongly believe that like other countries, stigma arises as a result of misunderstanding of the disease (epilepsy). Our target is children as they are naïve from any false belief in epilepsy.
This upcoming March 26, 2015, we will launch this project to the public by holding the event at our center in King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital, Bangkok, Thailand.
