Sophia Seeger
info@miloandme.orgMilo&Me is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization. It was created by 19-year-old Sophia Seeger and her therapy dog, Milo. After living with epilepsy for 15-plus years, Sophia decided to use her struggle as motivation to end the stigma surrounding epilepsy. Some of the efforts Sophia has managed are attending community events in her area, speaking to schools about the importance of epilepsy. She was nominated by the Epilepsy Foundation of CT to participate in their “Teens Speak Up!” program, where she spoke to legislators in Washington D.C. about the importance of schools being trained in seizure first aid and has been featured speaker in the Epilepsy Foundation of CT’s “Think Positive Gala” in 2022.
We are committed to being a safe place for teen girls with epilepsy. Currently, we have a monthly virtual support group for girls with epilepsy (ages 16-19) on the East and Central Coast. We also provide those living with epilepsy care packages in times of need while educating others in our community about the importance of epilepsy awareness.
OUR MISSION:
Empowerment: Milo&Me started a monthly virtual teen support group for teen girls with epilepsy who are 16-20 years old. Our support group is a safe space for girls in the epilepsy community to know they aren’t alone & to make lifelong friends.
Care package program: Nominate a friend with epilepsy who is struggling or celebrating in their journey! We send a little gift with Milo&Me merchandise attached with a written note. Donations are greatly appreciated!
Education: We are committed to raising awareness about epilepsy in Connecticut and dispelling myths and stigma associated with the condition.
We can’t wait to see you all on Purple Day!
