Lynn Palmer

Hello, My name is Lynn Palmer, and I am 47 years old. I am a divorced single mom, with a 17- year- old daughter, Emma. I had my first recognized seizure at age 33, it was my one and only Tonic Clonic. I have Focal Seizures in my Right Temporal Lobe. Unfortunately, although I am on several different medications, no one has been able to completely stop them. Epilepsy changed my life completely for the worse, but I was blessed with a wonderful family that never left my side. Since 1998, I had worked in the field of Social Work and advocacy. From 2001-2013, for 11 1/2 years I worked  as a School Social Worker, which I believed was my calling and had planned to retire in that field. I was forced to resign from there due to my uncontrolled seizures, and have been unable to work since. Through that and some other really hard experiences, I had a hard time finding what my purpose was. Then, a few months ago, I discovered that advocating for those with Epilepsy and educating my local community has helped me rediscover my identity. I have helped myself by helping others again, and it feels great!
