As we kick off Epilepsy Awareness Month, the Purple Day® Every Day team wanted to take a moment to share that we have officially kicked off our Purple Day® Every Day Blog – our newest platform to reach the epilepsy community and general public at large. This blog will focus primarily on real stories written by real people with epilepsy, their family or friends or people affected by epilepsy in some way.
If you’re new to Purple Day® Every Day, we are an organization that connects people with epilepsy awareness initiatives and events all year round. We have Purple Day® Every Day ambassadors around the globe putting epilepsy awareness – and purple – at the forefront 365 days a year. You might recall another name – The Anita Kaufmann Foundation; that’s our parent organization. Purple Day® Every Day is an initiative of The Anita Kaufmann Foundation and in 2020 we made the decision to fold all of our communications under the Purple Day® Every Day umbrella to create more consistency.
Our mission is simple: to make a kinder world for people with epilepsy, seizures and brain trauma through seizure first-aid training, education and advocacy. We hope to empower people with epilepsy and seizures by eliminating stigma and discrimination.
But we can’t do this alone – and you know that. We need YOUR help spreading awareness about epilepsy 365 days a year. We need you to become a Purple Day® Every Day ambassador and host small events (safely of course) or even online events to raise awareness.
We need you to participate in initiatives we launch, or re-launch, like “The Great Purple Cupcake Project” that is back and better than ever! COVID-19 won’t stop us from spreading awareness the sweetest way possible. If you’re up for the challenge of baking purple cupcakes and posting a photo or two of them on Instagram or Facebook with a clever, educational caption spreading awareness about epilepsy, then click here to learn more and get involved!
You will see blog posts appearing as often as we can – we’ve got a big network of people willing to tell their stories and if you’d like to tell yours, get in touch with us on Facebook! Someone will respond to your message (as soon as they can) and give you instructions on submitting a blog post to our editors.
